Announcements
January 15, 2022:
1) My editor is finished with "Omicron, Part II: Bitter Defeats, Epic Victories, & Selfless Acts." I haven't begun review of the edits, as I have pulled "Legionnaire," Part I and II, for an overdue read and update. This book has taken top priority. Fortunately, life circumstances will soon allow me to focus entirely on writing (and school). I am extremely motivated to move through Legionnaire, and am already making progress. I'm fixing some plot holes and updating my older writing style so that the story is easier to read. 2) "Warfare" has been pulled and is undergoing updates. A new cover is also in progress. 3) The teaser page for "Dimensions" has undergone some updates. Older Announcements: 1) The ebook version of "Omicron, Part One: Cerberus Rising" is now available in Amazon's Kindle Store. The paperback should also be available. The link can be found on the book's teaser page. 2) I've created a new page, "Acknowledgments." I suggest clicking on the tab at the top of this page and taking a quick peek! Don't forget that you can find my page on Facebook: fb.me/sparktowrite or email me at [email protected]. The passion to write is a blessing and a burden...
We were all created differently and with different interests and loves. Some love science or math while others love the arts, nature, or music. Still more have a desire to reach out and help others in need.
And there are some of us who are doomed to write. Like any other passion, it goes far beyond the mere hobby or interest. It is a consuming thing, especially when that initial spark springs to life, that very first idea for the beginning of a story or some random vision that marks the dawn of a new book.
I say that the gift of writing is a blessing and a burden because writing brings us joy. Yet it is also a painstaking, laborious ordeal to complete something wholesome and deep, a novel that is full of not only adventure but purpose. There are times when in the throes of writing a book that you have a sense of desperation that the work must be completed as soon as possible. Born of some urgency from an unknown place, you feel that you must write as much as possible every day until the novel is done…or else the world will implode. I have gone three weeks straight on two to three hours of sleep a night when in this kind of mode.
A joy and a burden.
And just as a true musician does not play for money or an artist paint for profit, so I believe that a true writer does not labor within his craft for personal gain. We write to share something with other people.
I desire to keep my books free of profane and lewd language, and suggestive material. Having class in regards to a person’s character and quality is, unfortunately, becoming a rare thing. Never has anything vulgar in movies, music, or books ever truly added anything of worth. My books will always be free of these things.
In a more personal aim, I work to create stories that have great depth and that present the reader with many things in life to consider. At the least, I desire to create work that pulls you into a story and holds you captive throughout the entire adventure. At the end, I hope to leave you wanting just a little more of that novel.
Ultimately, I want to give you something uplifting or something that can take you away for a while from whatever stress or hardship you may be battling in your life.
My other great hope is that perhaps one of my stories just might stir the mind of someone else, especially a writer, and bring to life in them…that very first spark of inspiration.
